Our Building Blocks of Youth Development

AHB’s levels of programming support the cognitive, social/emotional, and character development of young people from 10-24 years old. Visit our Contact page to reach out and learn more about each program or activity.

Hands-On Shop Tour

(All Ages 8 - 80)

Groups of 5-20 build toy sailboats, learn 15+ tools in a fun two-hour shop tour! Scouts fulfill "Baloo the Builder" merit badge.

Intro to Woodworking

(Grades 5-9)

Intro to carpentry, safety, workmanship, & teamwork through a series of projects either off-site or at our shop.

Introductory Boatbuilding

(Grades 5-12)

A team of students work together to build a 12-foot wood Bevin’s Skiff rowboat either off-site or at our shop.

AHB Summer Camps

(Ages 10-15)

A variety of free weeklong day camps offering on the water experiences, building & hands-on maritime skills.

RAFT

(Grades 8-12)

An after-school educational boatbuilding and youth development program that meets twice a week at the shop.

STEM2STERN

(Grades 9-12)

Students work together on the design, “lofting,” construction, and launching of a full-scale wooden boat in weekly classes.

(Ages 16-24)

An introduction to the skilled trades and soft skills necessary to obtaining and maintaining a paid position.

Summer Internships

(Grades 10-12)

A 6-week paid summer internship where interns to gain work experience “apprenticing” in the boat shop and helping with summer camps.

A 7-week introductory course for on-the-water skill development, recreation and exploration of maritime jobs and careers.
