Building a 12-foot Wooden Bevin Skiff Row Boat

Our signature hands-on learning project! A group of students work together to build and launch a 12-foot rowing boat from raw lumber using traditional hand tools, mathematical principles, and teamwork. Throughout construction, they also build their confidence, cultivate a deeper appreciation for collaboration, and experience the satisfaction of seeing a project through from beginning to end. Each project takes approximately 30 hours to complete. These projects have been integrated into school curriculums for academic credit or can be offered as enriching after-school activities.
